Elizabeth Magie Phillips

Elizabeth  Magie  Phillips  (9 maggio 1866 – 2 marzo 1948) cercò di divulgare le idee anti-monopoliste dell'economista Henry George con un gioco, il Landlord’s Game, “per dimostrare gli effetti devastanti dell’usurpazione delle terre” e dimostrare perché i ricchi diventano sempre più ricchi e i poveri sempre più poveri.

Nel 1904 ricevette 500 dollari e nessun pagamento per i diritti d'autore dalla "Parker Brothers" che mise sul mercato il Monopoly, “creato” da Charles Darrow, una nuova versione che premia i monopoli.

Elizabeth  Magie  Phillips  (9 May 1866 – 2 March 1948) invented a board game to popularize the anti-monopolistic ideas of the economist Henry George: The Landlord's Game, “to demonstrate the devastating effects of land usurpation” and to show why the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

In 1904 she received a $500 buyout and no royalty payments from "Parker Brothers" who released Monopoly, “created” by Charles Darrow: a new version that rewards ahem monopolies.
